Breaking news from Berlin, Germany: the European Patent Office (EPO) has officially announced the winners of the European Inventor Award 2026. Leveraging its world‑leading innovative technologies for power battery recycling, Brunp Recycling has claimed two prestigious honours: the Non‑EPO Countries Award and the Popular Prize.

The European Inventor Award comprises six categories in total. Brunp Recycling is the first Chinese team in the award’s history to win two prizes in a single edition. This landmark achievement underscores Chinese enterprises’ global technological leadership and brand influence in the circular utilisation of new energy vehicle power batteries.
Established jointly in 2006 by the European Patent Office and the European Commission’s Directorate‑General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, the European Inventor Award ranks among Europe’s most influential innovation accolades. It recognises outstanding inventors who advance technological progress, social development and economic prosperity.
According to data from the International Energy Agency (IEA), global newly added lithium‑ion battery capacity exceeded 2,000 gigawatt‑hours (GWh) between 2018 and 2023, powering approximately 40 million electric vehicles and thousands of battery energy storage projects worldwide. As battery demand continues to rise, so does the need for recycling critical raw materials such as lithium, nickel and cobalt. Brunp Recycling’s proprietary technology directly converts spent lithium‑ion batteries into high‑performance cathode materials for new battery remanufacturing, thereby reducing waste, resource consumption and carbon emissions.
Commenting on the international honours, Vice President Yu Haijun, who represented the company at the award ceremony, stated: “Europe has long attached great importance to the positive value of battery recycling in advancing green, low‑carbon and sustainable development. Our dual wins at the European Inventor Award 2026 are both a product of our times and the result of strong platform support and the collective efforts of our entire team. They represent authoritative international recognition of Brunp Recycling’s global innovation contributions and continuous technological iteration in the battery recycling sector in recent years.”
Brunp Recycling will continue its endeavours to advance China‑EU technical cooperation in the new energy sector, and work with global partners to build a secure, green and sustainable new energy future.
