Fulfill Research Responsibilities and Promote High-Quality Industrial Development

From March 3 to 4, 2025, the first meeting of the 2025 Joint Research Working Group on Sustainable Development of Power Batteries and the second seminar on the "Regulations on the Management of Recycling and Utilization of Waste Lithium - ion Batteries" (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations") were successfully held at the Innovation Headquarters of Brunp Recycling. This meeting brought together more than 100 experts, scholars and enterprise representatives from the upper, middle and lower reaches of the domestic and foreign power battery industry chain. They jointly discussed the cutting - edge policies, technical standards and industry norms related to the sustainable development and comprehensive utilization of power batteries, aiming to promote the high - quality development of the power battery recycling and utilization industry.

The conference site

On the first day of the conference, Wang Pan, Director of the Power Battery Division of China Automotive Data, delivered an opening speech. He expressed the hope that this conference would serve as a platform for industry exchanges, enabling in-depth discussions on industrial development trends with all parties involved. This, he noted, would provide strong technical support for formulating innovative management ideas and clarifying management directions in the future, and contribute to the joint efforts in advancing the research on the Regulations.

He Sichao, an expert from China Automotive Data, presented a summary of the 2024 work and the 2025 research plan of the "China Battery ID Joint Research Working Group", and analyzed domestic and foreign policies on new energy vehicle power batteries as well as the current status of the industry. An expert from the Japan Automotive Research Institute shared the research progress of the ISO 18006 series of standards, while Zhang Tongzhu, an expert from the China Automotive Technology & Research Center, introduced the research progress of the standard Information on Product Labels, Tags and Electronic Identifications for Road Vehicle Traction Batteries. Participating experts engaged in discussions on topics such as the battery ID system, indicators for battery ID-powered and energy storage batteries, and opinions on the EU Battery Regulation, putting forward constructive suggestions.

On the second day of the conference, Yu Haijun, Vice President of Brunp Recycling, delivered a speech, extending a warm welcome to the guests attending the conference. He emphasized that building a safe, efficient and environmentally friendly power battery recycling and utilization system is the key to realizing resource recycling. He hoped to strengthen cooperation among the upper, middle and lower reaches of the industrial chain, jointly improve industry standards, enhance resource utilization efficiency, and promote the transformation of the green economy.

Hu Song from China Automotive Data introduced the research progress of the Regulations and the next-step plan, and shared the research situation of the 2024 special inspection on the recycling and utilization of new energy vehicle power batteries. Wang Ziyao from China Automotive Data interpreted the Industrial Specification Conditions for the Comprehensive Utilization of Waste Power Batteries of New Energy Vehicles, He Huan interpreted the Interim Measures for the Management of Comprehensive Utilization of Waste Power Batteries of New Energy Vehicles, and Li Chuanpeng introduced the 2024 work summary and 2025 work plan of the "Battery Policy Compliance Working Group". The participants also visited the exhibition hall of Brunp Recycling to learn about the advanced technologies and technological processes of power battery recycling and utilization.

The conference also conducted discussions around five key topics in the Regulations, including the requirements for green ecological design of power batteries, management requirements for power battery maintenance and reuse, access requirements for echelon utilization enterprises, access requirements for recycling enterprises, and the "power battery ID" system. Participating experts had in-depth exchanges on key issues and provided valuable suggestions for the improvement of the Regulations.

Communication and discussion

This conference provided a platform for policy interpretation and technical exchanges for enterprises in the upper, middle and lower reaches of the power battery industry chain, promoting cooperation and innovation within the industry. In the future, Brunp Recycling will continue to commit itself to technological innovation and industrial upgrading, actively explore the optimal solutions for power battery recycling and utilization, jointly promote the green transformation and high-quality development of the power battery industry, and contribute to the achievement of the carbon neutrality goal.
