On June 23, Bertrand Lortholary, Ambassador of France to China, led a delegation to Brunp Recycling. The group held industrial roundtable discussions with Zhai Feng, Vice President of Brunp Recycling, and the company’s core team. Focusing on France’s reindustrialization strategy and the development of the new-energy circular economy, both sides explored paths for cross-border cooperation in green low-carbon industries.

Reindustrialization stands as one of the core policy priorities throughout President Emmanuel Macron’s two presidential terms. Under the €30 billion industrial revitalization programme covering renewable energy and electric vehicles, France aims to build an annual production capacity of one million electric vehicles domestically by 2030, which will unlock massive market potential for battery recycling.
As a global leader in closed-loop battery recycling, Brunp boasts robust core competitiveness while delivering on circular economy practices. Data from Shanghai Metals Market (SMM) shows that Brunp captured more than 30% of China’s battery recycling market share in 2025. Its total recycling volume surpassed the combined output of the industry’s second to ninth-ranked players, securing its leading position in the sector. The enterprise also maintains an overwhelming edge in the proportion of recycled raw materials used in ternary cathode materials.

Ambassador Lortholary remarked that France has remained Europe’s most attractive destination for foreign investment for seven consecutive years. For Chinese enterprises investing overseas, France offers one-stop settlement support as well as industrial subsidies equal to those enjoyed by local businesses. The French side sincerely invited Brunp to establish battery recycling operations in France and deepen cooperation along the green industrial chain, so as to power France’s energy transition and the electrification of its automotive industry. He stressed that “Choosing France” is far more than a slogan; it represents a solid commitment to mutual growth shared by the French government and enterprises.
Zhai Feng expressed gratitude for the recognition and cooperation proposal extended by the French delegation, and affirmed the strategic value of the meeting. He noted that the dialogue opened a new chapter for Sino-French cooperation on green low-carbon industries. Brunp will maintain regular communication with Business France to evaluate investment prospects in France. Long-term exchanges will span technical cooperation, trade and industrial investment, with the company exploring innovative cross-border partnership models to advance the sustainable development of the global new energy sector.
