With the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry, the volume of retired power batteries has been increasing year by year. Without mandatory regulations on safe dismantling and crushing methods, there are potential risks such as short circuit, fire and explosion. Meanwhile, harmful gases and liquids may be released, endangering personnel health and environmental safety.

To address this issue, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued a mandatory national standard plan titled Safety Requirements for Dismantling and Crushing of Vehicle Power Batteries, which is led and drafted by Guangdong Brunp Recycling Technology Co., Ltd.

This standard aims to rectify the disorder in the physical processing segment of the power battery recycling industry through mandatory safety provisions. It will establish comprehensive and mandatory safety specifications covering enterprise layout, equipment conditions, site requirements and personnel operation norms. It ensures retired power batteries are disposed of in a safe, environmentally friendly and scientific manner during dismantling and crushing, laying a solid foundation for subsequent high-value resource recycling. The move will significantly upgrade the overall industry safety level and resource recycling efficiency, and drive the sound development of the industry.

Recycling was once unstandardized, and setting standards must come first.Brunp Recycling has led and participated in formulating over 80% of China’s lithium battery recycling standards. It has been involved in all national standards for power battery recycling and utilization, taking the lead in more than 60% of them.
